Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
2. Turn on the park lamps.
3. Attempt to dim the instrument panel lamps using the IP dimmer switch.

Do the instrument panel lamps dim?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
2. Disconnect the IP dimmer switch.
3. Connect a test lamp between the IP dimmer switch connector terminal D and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6

Repair the short to battery voltage in circuit 44 or in circuit 8. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 6

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?
