  1. Place the ignition in the RUN position.
  2. Set the park brake.
  3. Apply the brake pedal.
  4. Place the transmission in the REVERSE position.

Do the back up lamps illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the inoperative lamp.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative lamp and the ground circuit of the inoperative lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Replace the inoperative lamp. Refer to Backup Lamp Bulb Replacement .

Connect a test lamp between the supply voltage circuit of the inoperative lamp and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Repair a poor connection or an open in the ground circuit of the inoperative lamp. Refer to Wiring Repairs or Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
