  1. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
  2. Turn the headlamps on.
  3. Turn the high beam headlamps on.

Does the high beam indicator illuminate and remain on?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Remove the instrument cluster.
  2. Connect a test lamp from the instrument cluster connector terminal A17 to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.
  3. Turn the headlamps on.
  4. Place the multi-function lever in the high beam position.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test for and repair a poor connection at the instrument cluster connector terminal A17. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and repair a poor connection?

Replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Cluster, Gauges, and Console.

Repair the open in circuit 11. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
