Headlamp Replacement Camaro

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 294727  Size: SH

    Caution: Halogen bulbs contain gas under pressure. Handling a bulb improperly could cause it to shatter into flying glass fragments. To help avoid personal injury:

       • Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing the bulb.
       • Leave the lamp switch OFF until the bulb change is complete.
       • Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
       • Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
       • Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb.
       • Properly dispose of the used bulb.
       • Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children.

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the headlamp housing bracket bolt from the headlamp bracket.
  3. Pull the headlamp inboard to disengage the headlamp tabs from the headlamp bracket slots.

  4. Object Number: 294726  Size: SH
  5. Pull the headlamp forward to access electrical connectors.
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the headlamp.
  7. Remove the headlamp from the vehicle.
  8. Remove the headlamp bulb/sockets from the headlamp by rotating counterclockwise.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the headlamp bulb/sockets to the headlamp by rotating clockwise.

  2. Object Number: 294726  Size: SH
  3. Connect the electrical connectors to the headlamp bulb/sockets.
  4. Engage tabs on back of headlamp into the slots in the headlamp bracket.

  5. Object Number: 294727  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the headlamp housing bracket bolt to the headlamp bracket.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the headlamp housing bracket bolt to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

Headlamp Replacement Firebird/Trans Am

Removal Procedure

       • Turn off the lamp switch and allow the bulb to cool before changing the bulb.
       • Leave the lamp switch OFF until the bulb change is complete.
       • Always wear eye protection when changing a halogen bulb.
       • Handle the bulb only by its base. Avoid touching the glass.
       • Keep dirt and moisture off the bulb.
       • Properly dispose of the used bulb.
       • Keep halogen bulbs out of the reach of children.

  1. Turn the ignition key to the RUN position (4).
  2. Turn the headlamps ON, then turn the switch back to park lamps.
  3. This will leave the headlamps in the up position with the lamps off.

  4. Turn the ignition key to the OFF position (1).

  5. Object Number: 402675  Size: SH
  6. Open the hood.
  7. Remove the headlamp bezel screws.
  8. Remove the headlamp bezel.

  9. Object Number: 402683  Size: SH
  10. Remove the headlamp mounting ring screws from the headlamp housing.
  11. Remove the headlamp mounting ring.
  12. Disconnect the electrical connector from the headlamp.

  13. Object Number: 402693  Size: SH
  14. Remove the headlamp from the housing.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 402693  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connector to the headlamp.
  2. Position the headlamp to the housing.

  3. Object Number: 402683  Size: SH
  4. Install the headlamp mounting ring.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   6. Install the headlamp mounting ring screws to the headlamp housing.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  8. Install the headlamp bezel.
  9. Install the headlamp bezel screws.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Close the hood.
  12. Turn the headlamp switch off.
