Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement 3.8 L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 282936  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor and condenser hose bolt at the accumulator.
  3. Discard the O-ring.

  4. Object Number: 43679  Size: SH
  5. Remove the negative battery cable nut from the engine block stud.
  6. Remove the negative battery cable from the stud.
  7. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  8. Object Number: 569444  Size: SH
  9. Remove the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt.
  10. Discard the O-ring.

  11. Object Number: 365450  Size: SH
  12. Remove the A/C compressor and condenser hose nut at the condenser.
  13. Discard the O-ring.
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Remove the A/C compressor and condenser hose from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Lightly coat the O-rings with a mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  1. Install the A/C compressor and condenser hose to the vehicle.
  2. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  3. Object Number: 365450  Size: SH
  4. Install a new O-ring.
  5. Install the A/C compressor and condenser hose nut at the condenser.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C compressor and condenser hose nut at the condenser to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).


    Object Number: 569444  Size: SH
  7. Install a new O-ring.
  8. Install the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.

  11. Object Number: 43679  Size: SH
  12. Install the negative battery cable to the stud.
  13. Install the negative battery cable nut to the engine block stud.
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the negative battery cable nut to the engine block stud to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  15. Install a new O-ring.
  16. Install the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt at the accumulator.
  17. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt at the accumulator to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  18. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  19. Perform a leak test on the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing .

Air Conditioning Compressor Hose Replacement 5.7 L

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 282941  Size: SH
  1. Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the air conditioning (A/C) compressor and condenser hose from the clip on the fan shroud.
  3. Remove the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt at the accumulator.
  4. Discard the O-ring.
  5. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Object Number: 365450  Size: SH
  7. Remove the A/C compressor and condenser hose nut at the condenser.
  8. Discard the O-ring.
  9. Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .
  10. Remove the A/C compressor and condenser hose from the vehicle.
  11. Discard the O-ring.

Installation Procedure

Lightly coat the O-rings with the mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil.

  1. Install a new O-ring to the A/C compressor and condenser hose.
  2. Install the compressor and condenser hose to the vehicle.
  3. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 365450  Size: SH
  5. Install a new O-ring.
  6. Install the A/C compressor and condenser hose nut at the condenser.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C compressor and condenser hose nut at the condenser to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  8. Lower the vehicle.

  9. Object Number: 282941  Size: SH
  10. Install a new O-ring.
  11. Install the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt at the accumulator.
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the A/C compressor and condenser hose bolt at the accumulator to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  13. Install the A/C compressor and condenser hose to the clip on the fan shroud.
  14. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  15. Perform a leak test on the A/C system. Refer to Leak Testing .
