Accelerator Pedal Replacement TAC Module and Bracket Assembly

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 403996  Size: SH
  1. Remove the exterior retaining bolt and discard.

  2. Object Number: 296111  Size: SH
  3. Remove the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  4. Object Number: 403994  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the harness from the TAC module.

  6. Object Number: 403993  Size: SH
  7. Remove the interior retaining bolt and nut.
  8. Remove the pedal/TAC module assembly from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 403993  Size: SH
  1. Install the pedal/TAC module assembly to the vehicle.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the interior retaining bolt and nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 25 N·m(19 lb. ft.) and tighten the nut to 20 N·m(15 lb. ft.).

  5. Connect the harness to the TAC module.

  6. Object Number: 296111  Size: SH
  7. Install the left instrument panel insulator. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  8. Object Number: 403996  Size: SH
  9. Install the new exterior retaining bolt.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 8 N·m(10 lb. ft.).

Accelerator Pedal Replacement Bracket and Rod Assembly

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 579466  Size: SH
  1. Remove the TAC module and bracket assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the plastic link (3) from the TAC module arm and discard.
  3. Remove the bolts (2) retaining the TAC module (1) to the bracket (4).
  4. Remove the TAC module (1) from the bracket (4).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 579466  Size: SH
  1. Install the bracket (4) to the TAC module (1).
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts (2) that retain the TAC module (1) to the bracket (4).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m(53 lb. in.).

    Important: This link (3) must not be damaged at installation.

  5. Connect the plastic link (3) to the TAC module arm.
  6. Install the TAC module (1) and bracket assembly (4) to the vehicle. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Replacement .

Accelerator Pedal Replacement Pad, Spring and Pin

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the TAC module and bracket assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Replacement .
  2. Disconnect the pad spring (5) from the rod.
  3. Remove the pin (7) from the pad (6) and rod.
  4. Remove the pad (6) and pad spring (5) from the rod.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the pad (6) and pad spring (5) to the rod.
  2. Install the pin (7) to the pad (6) and rod.
  3. Connect the pad spring (5) to the rod.
  4. Install the TAC module and bracket assembly to the vehicle. Refer to Accelerator Pedal Replacement .
