Circuit Description

The twilight delay switch is a potentiometer. The climate control panel (CCP) module determines the control setting based on the voltage from the twilight delay switch. The CCP module controls the head lamp automatic, on/off, and delayed off functions.

Conditions for Running the DTC

The CCP is powered.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The feedback voltage is greater than 4.8V for more than 2 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The CCP sets the twilight status to ON.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

The CCP does not detect a voltage above the predetermined value during the diagnostic self test.

Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. Rotate the twilight delay rheostat slowly while watching the scan tool parameter. Repeat as necessary.

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the twilight delay pot parameter in the climate control panel (CCP) module data list.

Does the scan tool indicate the voltage is less than specified value?

4.8 V

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the fog light switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage from the 5 volt reference circuit at the fog lamp switch connector to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

5 V

Measure the voltage from the 5 volt reference circuit to the sensor return circuit at the fog lamp switch connector.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

5 V

Measure the voltage from the twilight delay signal circuit to the sensor return circuit at the fog lamp switch connector.

Does the voltage measure near the specified value?

5 V

Test the 5 volt reference circuit for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the sensor return circuit for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the twilight delay signal circuit for a short or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
