The programmer is used to control the operation of the HVAC system. The programmer/instrument panel module (IPM) is located behind the instrument panel compartment door. The heater and A/C control assembly allows the vehicle operator to communicate with the IPM. The IPM is the component which monitors the HVAC system status and can adjust to meet the requirement set by the operator of the vehicle. The heater and A/C control includes buttons to select operating modes, a fan speed increase/decrease control, the rear defog control button, and a vacuum fluorescent display panel. When the parklamps or headlamps are turned on, the buttons are illuminated.
