POOR HEAT DISTRIBUTION/LACK OF AIR FROM HEATER OUTLET

SUBJECT: POOR HEAT DISTRIBUTION OR LACK OF AIR FROM HEATER OUTLET (CHECK FOR PROPER INSTALLATION OF HEATER DUCT)

MODELS AFFECTED: 1992-93 BONNEVILLE MODELS

CONDITION:

--------- Some owners of 1992-93 Bonneville models may experience poor heater distribution or flow from the heater outlet. This problem is easiest to diagnose by checking to see that the heater outlet duct is properly installed (see illustration) . If the outlet is incorrectly installed, the heater air is dumped at the back of the outlet, thus producing little if any flow out the outlet openings.

CORRECTION:

---------- Check the back of the heater outlet for proper installation. The outlet must be in the track that it slides in. The rear of the outlet has two tabs that must be inserted in the modular duct that it attaches to (see illustration) . If it is not in the track or the tabs are not inserted, remove the outlet and install correctly.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
