BULLETIN COVERS:

New seal installation tools for the input clutch inner piston seal (629) and the 3rd clutch inner piston seal (635). These tools are to be used when servicing the input clutch assembly on all 1984 through 1988 vehicles equipped with a THM 440-T4 transaxle.

DATE OF PRODUCTION CHANGE: (Figure 1) ------------------------- July 29, 1986 (Julian Date 210) all 1987 THM 440-T4 transaxles were built using a new design input housing and shaft assembly (626). Refer to Figure 2 for the specific changes.

SERVICE ACTION:

When servicing the input clutch housing and shaft assembly on a 1984 through 1988 THM 440-T4 transaxle use the new seal installation tools, J 37361 and J 37362 (Figure 3). The previous design tools, J 34091 and J 34092 will work on 1984-1986 transaxles only.

Use Figure 3 to update information contained in your 1987 and 1988 THM 440-T4 Automatic Transaxle Unit Repair section.
