Subject: WARRANTY CLAIM PREPARATION AND PROCESSING

NOTE: The following information is taken from the Pontiac Warranty/Transportation claims preparation manual. Please review this existing policy with your Warranty Claims Administrator.

"Receipt of correct claim data is required. All claim lines received with incorrect information will be rejected. It is the dealership's responsibility to correct rejected claims and resubmit them to Pontiac for payment. Simply applying an approval code to a rejected claim will not override the need to submit corrected data. Furthermore, the claim should not be altered from its original submission for the sole purpose of bypassing a rejection. Care must be taken by the claims clerk to properly address the reject reason. Altered claims could be interpreted as misrepresentation."

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
