FUEL PUMP WARRANTY ALL MODELS

Feedback from the Customer Assistance Center, Technical Assistance Center, Dealer Assistance Center and various other sources indicates that a great deal of confusion exists regarding fuel pump warranty coverage.

The fuel pump in all gasoline powered Pontiac vehicles is protected by the powertrain coverage for model years prior to 1989 vehicles. For model years 1989 forward, the fuel pumps on the vehicles are covered by the Bumper-To-Bumper Plus Warranty. Gasoline fuel pumps are not covered by the emissions warranty.

Hopefully, the above information should clarify any misunderstandings that may currently exist. Any questions regarding this matter should be referred to your District Manager or Dealer Service Consultant.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
