OIL LEAK AT OIL PAN DRAIN PLUG V-8, V6, OHV L4 CARS & TRUCKS

AN IMPROVED OIL DRAIN PLUG GASKET, P/N 14090908, IS AVAILABLE TO REPLACE THE COPPER GASKET, P/N 14079550. THE NEW GASKET IS A STEEL WASHER WITH CAPTURED O-RING (VITON). THE NEW O-RING/STEEL GASKET IS CAPABLE OF SEALING IRREGULAR SURFACES WITH LIGHT TORQUES WHILE RETAINING THE CLAMPING LOAD OVER TIME. REUSE OF THE O-RING/STEEL GASKET DOES NOT LESSEN SEALING OR TORQUE RETENTION CHARACTERISTICS. RECOMMMENDED TORQUE FOR THE O-RING/STEEL GASKET IS 12-20 FT. LBS. (16-27 NM). EXCESSIVELY HIGHER TORQUES MAY CAUSE DEFORMATION, SPLITTING, OR LOSS OF SEALING CAPABILITY. THIS IS AN INFORMATIONAL BULLETIN.
