Power Steering Pump Replacement LA1

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the wiring harness from the wiring harness retainer located on the power steering pump reservoir.
  2. Remove the accessory drive belt from the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.

  3. Object Number: 417974  Size: SH
  4. Remove the power steering pressure hose from the power steering pump.

  5. Object Number: 417981  Size: SH
  6. Remove the power steering return hose from the power steering pump.

  7. Object Number: 468952  Size: SH
  8. Remove the power steering pump mounting bolts from the power steering pump.
  9. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.
  10. Cap off the power steering pump and hoses in order to prevent contamination.
  11. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  12. Remove the power steering pump reservoir from the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the power steering pump reservoir to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Reservoir Replacement - Off Vehicle .
  2. Install the power steering pump pulley to the power steering pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  3. Uncap the power steering pump and hoses.

  4. Object Number: 468952  Size: SH
  5. Position the power steering pump to the vehicle.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the power steering pump mounting bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump mounting bolts to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).

  9. Install the wiring harness to the wiring harness retainer located on the power steering pump reservoir.

  10. Object Number: 417981  Size: SH
  11. Install the power steering return hose to the power steering pump.

  12. Object Number: 417974  Size: SH
  13. Install the power steering pressure hose to the power steering pump.
  14. Install the accessory drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.
  15. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  16. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering Fluid Leaks .
