Circuit Description

The outside rearview mirror switch supplies power and ground inputs to the memory seat module (MSM) for use in driving the driver and passenger outside rearview mirror horizontal and vertical motors. When the MSM recognizes the input combination, it moves the appropriate mirror motor in the requested direction. If the MSM sees the input combination for greater than 30 seconds, a DTC B1560, B1565, B1570 or B1575 is set and the mirror outputs are disabled.

DTC Descriptors

This diagnostic procedure supports the following DTCs:

    • DTC B1560 Mirror Right Control Switch Circuit
    • DTC B1565 Mirror Left Control Switch Circuit
    • DTC B1570 Mirror Up Control Switch Circuit
    • DTC B1575 Mirror Down Control Switch Circuit

Conditions for Running the DTCs

Battery input voltage between 9-16 volts.

Conditions for Setting the DTCs

Mirror switch inputs to the MSM are active for greater than 30 seconds.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

    • Mirror outputs are disabled.
    • Memory recall commands are ignored.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • The MSM no longer detects the switch failure for greater than 30 seconds.
    • DTC will clear after 50 consecutive ignition cycles.

Diagnostic Aids

    • The following conditions may cause an intermittent malfunction:
       - An outside rearview mirror switch that is sticking.
       - An outside rearview mirror switch that was pressed for longer than 30 seconds.
    • If the DTC does not reset after it has been cleared, then the malfunction may be intermittent. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems.

Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.
