Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.
  2. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.

  4. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
  5. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  6. Object Number: 368792  Size: SH
  7. Use a large flat-bladed tool in order to remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the cable lever.
  8. Use pliers in order to depress the cable retainers.
  9. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the automatic transaxle range selector cable bracket.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  13. If the vehicle is equipped with a console shift, perform the following steps:
  14. 10.1. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
    10.2. Remove the transaxle shift cable from the floor shift control.

  15. If the vehicle is equipped with a column shift, perform the following steps:
  16. 11.1. Remove the retaining clip from the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
    11.2. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the column control lever.
    11.3. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable from the steering column bracket.

  17. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable through the cowl.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 161144  Size: SH
  1. Properly route the automatic transaxle range selector cable through the engine compartment.

  2. Object Number: 161138  Size: SH
  3. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable through the cowl.

  4. Object Number: 161141  Size: SH
  5. If the vehicle is equipped with a column shift, perform the following steps:
  6. 3.1. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable to the steering column bracket.
    3.2. Install the retaining clip to the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
    3.3. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable to the column control lever.

  7. If the vehicle is equipped with a console shift, perform the following steps:
  8. 4.1. Install the transaxle shift cable to the floor shift control.
    4.2. Install the console trim plate. Refer to Front Floor Console Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console
  9. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  11. Install the A/T range selector cable to the A/T range selector cable bracket.
  12. Raise the vehicle.
  13. Install the A/T range selector cable to the A/T range selector lever.
  14. Lower the vehicle.

  16. Install the retaining clip to the automatic transaxle range selector cable.
  17. Adjust the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
  18. Install the throttle body air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.
  19. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-3.4L.
