DEFINITION: The low washer fluid indicator is always on or does not turn on with low washer fluid.

Did you review the Wiper/Washer System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Verify the fault is present.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the washer fluid level switch connector.
  3. Turn ON the ignition.

Does the low washer fluid indicator remain illuminated?

Go to Step 6

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Connect a 3-ampere fused jumper wire from the signal circuit to the ground circuit of the washer fluid level switch.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the low washer fluid indicator illuminate?

Connect a 3-ampere fused jumper wire from the signal circuit of the washer fluid level switch to a good ground.

Test the washer fluid level switch signal circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .

Test the washer fluid level switch signal circuit for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs .
