CENTER ARM REST STAY LOCK FEATURE

Models Affected: 1989 6000 AND BONNEVILLE MODELS

1989 6000 and Bonneville models with a center arm rest incorporate a STAY LOCK feature to prevent the arm rest from being opened in the vertical or upright position. A ball is used to achieve this as noted in Figures 1 and 2.

When in the down or horizontal position, see Figure 1, the ball allows the latch to be opened. When in the verticle or upright position, see Figure 2, the ball rolls to a position under the latch preventing it from being opened.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
