AIR CONDITIONING COMPRESSOR MOAN

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1987-89 A-CAR WITH 2.8L

THIS BULLETIN CANCELS AND REPLACES BULLETIN 88-1-125.

Some of the above vehicles may exhibit the subject condition at engine speeds ranging from idle to 1700 rpm.

If customer comments are received on this condition, it may be addressed by the addition of a new mounting brace for the A/C compressor. The part numbers for the brace and the attaching parts and the procedure are as follow.

Procedure:

---------- 1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

2. Loosen the belt tensioner and remove the belt from the A/C compressor.

3. Remove the two front mounting bolts of the A/C compressor.

4. Install the new brace end three new mounting bolts, as shown in Figure 1.

5. Reinstall the belt and tighten the tensioner.

6. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
