DTC Descriptor

DTC B3106 00: Keyless Entry Data Link Parity Error

Circuit/System Description

The remote function receiver module receives a signal from the keyless entry transmitters when a button is pressed; it then sends the request to the BCM.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BCM detects an invalid message from the remote function receiver module; a message with a parity error. This indicates an internal fault within the remote function receiver module.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

No action is taken.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

    • A current DTC will clear when the fault is no longer present and the ignition switch is cycled.
    • The history DTC will clear after 100 consecutive ignition cycles without a fault present.
    • A scan tool may be used to clear history and current DTCs.

Circuit/System Testing

  1. With a valid transmitter, press a button on the transmitter.
  2. Verify that DTC B3106 is set.
  3. Replace the K84 remote function receiver module.
