Master Cylinder Reservoir Replacement Right Hand Drive

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution in the Preface section.

Preliminary Procedures

  1. With the engine OFF, apply the brake pedal several times until the brake pedal becomes firm to deplete the vacuum brake booster vacuum reserve.
  2. Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir, using a suitable suction device.
  3. Disconnect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.

Master Cylinder Reservoir Bolt

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
3.5 N·m(40 lb in)

Clutch Master Cylinder Hose

Procedure

  1. If equipped, disconnect the clutch master cylinder hose from the brake master cylinder reservoir.
  2. Cap the brake fluid reservoir outlet and plug the clutch master cylinder hose inlet to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

Master Cylinder Reservoir

Procedure

  1. If installing a replacement reservoir on manual transmission vehicles, twist the cap off of the master cylinder reservoir.
  2. Ensure the outlet port is free from debris and contamination.
  3. Install new seals. DO NOT reuse the seals.
  4. Lubricate the seals with clean DOT 3 motor vehicle brake fluid.
  5. Fill the master cylinder reservoir.
