Shock Absorber Replacement GNC

Preliminary Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  2. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  3. Remove the rear wheelhouse panel liner from the vehicle. Refer to Rear Wheelhouse Panel Liner Replacement.

Upper Fastener (Qty: 2)

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Procedure

  1. Install NEW bolts.
  2. Apply locking agent on the bolts.

Tighten
100 N·m(74 lb ft) + 75 degrees

Lower Fastener

Procedure

Install NEW bolt.

Tighten
100 N·m(74 lb ft) + 75 degrees

Shock Absorber Bracket Nut

Tighten
30 N·m (22 lb ft) + 60 degrees + 15 degrees

Shock Absorber Bracket

Procedure

Transfer the bracket to the new shock absorber.

Shock Absorber

Procedure

Disconnect any electrical connectors, if equipped.

  4. Disconnect any electrical connectors if equipped.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tighten
110 N·m(81 lb ft)

Lower Fastener

Procedure

Install NEW bolt.

Tighten
150 N·m (111 lb ft) + 60 degrees + 15 degrees
