Removal Procedure

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

  3. Object Number: 2020038  Size: SH

    Note: Use a 6-point socket to remove the oil filter cap.

  4. Remove the oil filter cap (1).

  5. Object Number: 2020039  Size: SH

    Note: Do NOT replace the oil filter adapter for this condition.

  6. Remove and discard the oil filter cartridge (1).
  7. Place a suitable container below the oil pan drain plug.

  8. Object Number: 1210967  Size: SH
  9. Remove the oil pan drain plug.
  10. Allow the oil to drain completely.

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  1. Install the oil pan drain plug with a NEW O-ring seal and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  2. Object Number: 2020039  Size: SH
  3. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (1).

  4. Object Number: 1306505  Size: SH

    Caution: Lubrication must be applied to the threads of the oil filter cap prior to installation. Failure to lubricate the oil filter cap threads can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.

  5. Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.

  6. Object Number: 2020038  Size: SH

    Caution: Proper oil filter cap tightening is mandatory. Failure to tighten the oil filter cap to the proper specification can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.

    Note: Use a 6-point socket to install the oil filter cap.

  7. Install the oil filter cap (1) and tighten to X N·m (X lb in).
  8. Lower the vehicle.
  9. Remove the oil fill cap.
  10. Fill the engine with the appropriate oil type and quantity. Refer to NEED CELL LINK.
  11. Install the oil fill cap.
