Preliminary Procedures Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection. Remove the engine shield. Refer to Engine Shield Replacement.
1	Battery Cable Fastener (Qty: 3) Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section. Procedure Remove the cable from the starter motor. Tighten 8 N·m (71 lb in)
2	Starter Motor Fastener (Qty: 3) Tighten 22 N·m (16 lb in)

Preliminary Procedure Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
1	Battery Cable Fastener (Qty: 2) Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section. Tighten X N·m (X lb in)
2	Starter Motor Retainer
3	Starter Motor Fastener (Qty: 2) Tighten X N·m (X lb in)
4	Starter Motor Procedure Disconnect any electrical connectors.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

Tip

•	Remove the upper starter fastening bolt before lifting the vehicle.

•	Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor electrical connector. Remove the connector from the bracket.

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

1	Starter Motor Wiring Harness Fastener Procedure Disconnect the electrical connector of the knock sensor. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section. Tighten X N·m (X lb ft)
2	Starter Motor Wiring Harness Fastener Tighten X N·m (X lb ft)
3	Starter Fastener (Qty: 2) Tighten 47 N·m (34 lb ft)
