This bulletin is being revised to add the 2007-2008 Saturn SKY. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 08-08-44-007 (Section 08 -- Body and Accessories).

Install a spring washer to the power seat adjuster link arm.

DO NOT replace the amplifier or the radio or repair the ground circuits.

Condition

Some customers may comment on a static pop noise from the speakers while exiting the driver seat.

Cause

This condition may be caused by a poor ground path between the seat frame and the power seat adjuster.

Correction

Install a spring washer on the driver seat track assembly. Please follow the directions below to install the spring washer on the front of the right side (inboard) power seat adjuster link arm.

  1. Lower the top.
  2. Remove the left front door sill plate. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement in SI.
  3. Remove the driver side front seat assembly. Refer to Seat Replacement in SI.
  4. Place the seat assembly on a clean work bench with the right (inboard) side of the seat track facing up.
  5. Unhook the seat cover J-channel from the front and side of the seat cushion frame.

  6. Object Number: 2064875  Size: SH
  7. Place a support block (1) between the seat track and the seat cushion to gain access to the seat adjuster link arm TORX® screw (2).
  8. Remove the 40 mm TORX® head screw from the seat adjuster link.

  9. Object Number: 2064877  Size: SH

    Tip
    Use the J 42450 (Wheel Hub Resurfacing Kit) with a hub sanding disc to clean off the paint around the seat adjuster link arm hole as shown above.

  10. Remove the paint coating from around the adjuster link arm hole.
  11. Install the spring washer, P/N 14056708, onto the TORX® screw.
  12. Install the washer and TORX® screw into the adjuster link hole.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the adjuster link TORX® screw to 25 N·m(18 lb  ft).

  14. Remove the support block.
  15. Push the seat cushion and seat cover down on the seat cushion frame.
  16. Attach the seat cover J-channel to the front and rear of the seat cushion frame.
  17. Install the front seat assembly back into the vehicle. Refer to Seat Replacement in SI.
  18. Install the left front door sill plate by seating the retaining clips.
  19. Raise the top.
