ECM Part Number Clarafication - Incorrect ECM Will Lock Up When Programming - keywords 12605038 12614967 correction engine error hot lock part parts PCM PQC repeat SPS up

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Currently, the parts catalog lists the following ECM part numbers for the models above:

12605038 (2007-2008 Model Years with 2.0L Engine)

12614967 (2008 Model Year with 2.0L Engine)

This information is incorrect - part number 12605038 is only for 2007 models with the 2.0L engine (RPO LNF). If this ECM is installed in a 2008 model, it will lock up as the ECM is being programmed and internal ECM damage will occur.

When replacing the ECM on the models above, ensure that the correct ECM is being installed to prevent internal ECM damage. The correct part number for 2008 models with the 2.0L engine is 12614967. If this part number supersedes to a new part number in the future, it will also be acceptable to use the new part number.

This parts catalog concern has been reported and will be corrected in the near future. Once it is corrected, this PI will be deleted.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
