Removal Procedure

    Caution: An electric fan under the hood can start up even when the engine is not running and can injure you. Keep hands, clothing and tools away from any underhood electric fan.

    Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.

    Important: If abnormal noise or vibration is felt from the engine compartment, inspect and clean any foreign material from the cooling fan blades.

  1. Turn the ignition off.
  2. Remove the cooling fan and shroud assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
  3. Important: Turn the cooling fan nut clockwise to loosen.

  4. Remove the cooling fan nut.

  6. Remove the cooling fan from the shroud.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector from the cooling fan motor.

  8. Object Number: 793513  Size: SH
  9. Remove the screws from the cooling fan motor.
  10. Remove the cooling fan motor.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 793513  Size: SH
  1. Install the cooling fan motor.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the screws to the cooling fan motor.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Connect the electrical connector to the cooling fan motor.

  7. Install the cooling fan to the shroud.
  8. Important: Turn the cooling fan nut counterclockwise to tighten.

  9. Install the cooling fan nut.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  11. Install the cooling fan and shroud assembly. Refer to Engine Cooling Fan Replacement .
