Diagnostic Aids

If the power windows operate properly under RAP conditions and the Radio or VIU do not operate properly, the condition exists in the class 2 circuit of the Radio, VIU or IPC, or one of the individual modules. Refer to Scan Tool Does Not Communicate with Class 2 Device in Data Link Communications.

Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Retained Accessory Power .

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
  2. Disconnect the RAP relay.
  3. Inspect the power windows for correct operation.

Do the power windows operate?

Go to Step 3

Repair the short to battery in the power windows feed circuit. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 9

Using a test lamp connected to a battery positive voltage circuit, probe the RAP relay control circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 6

Replace the RAP relay.

Did you complete the repair?

Test the RAP relay control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the BCM. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement procedure?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
