Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical
  2. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the instrument panel upper trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  4. Remove the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  5. Remove the DRL module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  6. Remove the EBTCM module. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  7. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  8. Remove the A/C module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  9. Remove the IP air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  10. Remove the center air outlet. Refer to Center Air Outlet Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  11. Remove the defroster duct. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.

  12. Object Number: 318219  Size: SH
  13. Remove the bolts/screws from the cross car beam to the body.
  14. Remove the cross car beam from the body.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 318219  Size: SH
  1. Position the cross car beam to the body.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts/screws to the cross car beam to body.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the defroster duct. Refer to Defroster Air Outlet Duct Replacement in Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  6. Install the center air outlet. Refer to Center Air Outlet Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  7. Install the IP air outlet ducts. Refer to Instrument Panel Air Outlet Ducts Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  8. Install the A/C module. Refer to HVAC Module Assembly Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  9. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  10. Install the EBTCM module. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement in Antilock Brake System.
  11. Install the DRL module. Refer to Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Control Module Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  12. Install the body control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.
  13. Install the wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Replacement .
  14. Install the instrument panel upper trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  15. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement .
  16. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
