J 38778 Door Trim Pad and Garnish Trim Clip Remover

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 717501  Size: SH
  1. Slide both front seats to their rearward position.
  2. Remove the lower center console RCA bezel. Refer to Floor Console Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the auxiliary module.
  4. Remove the auxiliary module from the console and set aside.

  6. Remove the two screws from the video cassette player mounting bracket.

  7. Object Number: 628959  Size: SH
  8. Remove two push-in fasteners from the bottom of the video cassette player using J 38778 .
  9. Remove the video cassette player from the console.

  10. Object Number: 718068  Size: SH
  11. Disconnect the video cassette player electrical connectors (1, 2).

  12. Object Number: 628550  Size: SH
  13. Remove two screws and the video cassette player mounting bracket from the video cassette player.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 628550  Size: SH
  1. Install the video cassette player mounting bracket and 2 screws to the video cassette player.

  2. Object Number: 718068  Size: SH
  3. Connect the video cassette player electrical connectors (1, 2).
  4. Install the video cassette player into the center console.

  5. Object Number: 628959  Size: SH
  6. Reach through the opening in the center console and install the foam insulator between the top of the video cassette player and the center console.
  7. Install 2 push-in fasteners, securing the bottom of the video cassette player to the center console.

  8. Object Number: 717495  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  9. Install the 2 screws to the video cassette player mounting bracket.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  11. Install the auxiliary module into the center console.
  12. Connect the electrical connectors to the auxiliary module.
  13. Install the lower center console RCA bezel. Refer to Floor Console Accessory Power Receptacle Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  14. Return both front seats to their original position.
