Installation Procedure

  1. Using a lint-free clean, dry cloth, carefully clean the sealing surfaces of the A/C refrigerant line and the A/C refrigerant component.
  2. Important: Flat washer type seals do not require lubrication.

  3. Install the sealing washers.

  4. Object Number: 687178 Size: SH
  5. Install the evaporator inlet tube.
  6. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the condenser.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the evaporator inlet tube to condenser fitting bolt.
  9. Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  10. Connect the evaporator inlet tube to the evaporator outlet tube.
  11. Connect the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes to the TXV.

  12. Object Number: 628874 Size: SH
  13. Install the evaporator outlet tube to TXV nut.
  14. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  15. Connect the auxiliary evaporator inlet line to the evaporator inlet tube.
  16. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).

  17. Install the evaporator inlet tube clamp to strut tower nut.
  18. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 3.3 N·m (29 lb in).

  19. Install the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor to the evaporator inlet tube.
  20. Tighten
Tighten the sensor to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  21. Connect the A/C refrigerant pressure sensor electrical connector.
  22. Install the left wiper arm linkage.
