  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Add a load of 135 kg (300 lbs) to the rear of the vehicle.

Does the automatic level control (ALC) air compressor operate?

Go to Step 3

Does the rear of the vehicle rise and not leak down?

  1. Disconnect the automatic level control (ALC) sensor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the automatic level control height sensor circuit and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

Connect a test lamp between the automatic level control height sensor circuit and the automatic level control sensor ground circuit.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the automatic level control relay coil supply voltage circuit and a good ground.

Connect a 10 amp fused jumper wire between the automatic level control relay coil supply voltage circuit and a good ground.

Probe the automatic level control relay coil supply voltage circuit of the automatic level control relay connector with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Probe the accessory voltage circuit of the automatic level control relay connector with a test lamp connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Remove the ALC air compressor relay.
  2. Connect a 10 A fused jumper wire between pin 1 and pin 4 of the ALC air compressor relay connector.

Does the ALC air compressor activate?

  1. Disconnect the ALC air compressor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit, terminal E, of the ALC air compressor and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Connect a test lamp between the battery positive voltage circuit, terminal E, and the ground circuit of the ALC air compressor.
