    • J 28467-360 Engine Support Fixture
    • J 28467-90A Engine Support Fixture Adapter
    • J 36462-A Engine Support Adapter Leg
    • J 39505 Torque Wrench Adapter

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the engine mount struts from the engine. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left Side or to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right Side .
  3. Install the J 28467-360 .
  4. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  5. Disconnect the A/C compressor mounting bolts. Reposition and secure the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
  6. Disconnect the three-way catalytic converter pipe from the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  7. Drain the engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .

  9. Disconnect the oil level sensor wiring harness connection.
  10. Remove the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Remove the transaxle brace from the oil pan. Refer to Transmission Brace Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  12. Loosen the transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  13. Remove the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  14. Lower the vehicle.
  15. Use the J 28467-360 in order to raise the engine.
  16. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  17. Remove the engine mount bracket with the engine mount from the oil pan. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  18. Disconnect the right lower ball joint from the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.
  19. Disconnect the right outer tie rod from the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
  20. Remove the right side frame bolts.
  21. Loosen the left side frame bolts.

  23. Use the J 39505 in order to remove the right oil pan side bolts.

  24. Object Number: 105914  Size: SH
  25. Remove the left oil pan side bolts.

  26. Object Number: 105918  Size: MH
  27. Remove the oil pan retaining bolts.
  28. Remove the oil pan.
  29. Remove the oil pan gasket.
  30. Clean the oil pan and the engine block gasket surface.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 61840  Size: SH
  1. Apply sealant at the rear main bearing cap and the engine block (1).
  2. Install the oil pan gasket.

  3. Object Number: 105918  Size: MH
  4. Install the oil pan.
  5. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the oil pan retaining bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan retaining bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  8. Install the left oil pan side bolts.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan side bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  10. Use the J 39505 in order to install the right oil pan side bolts.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the oil pan side bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  12. Tighten the left side frame bolts.
  13. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  14. Install the right side frame bolts.
  15. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 180 N·m (133 lb ft).

  16. Connect the right lower ball joint to the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Ball Joint Replacement in Front Suspension.
  17. Connect the right outer tie rod to the steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement in Power Steering System.
  18. Install the engine mount bracket with the engine mount to oil pan. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  19. Lower the vehicle.
  20. Use the J 28467-360 in order to lower the engine.
  21. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  22. Install the transaxle mount lower nuts. Refer to Transmission Mount Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  23. Install the engine mount lower nuts. Refer to Engine Mount Replacement .
  24. Install the transaxle brace to the oil pan. Refer to Transmission Brace Replacement in Automatic Transaxle - 4T65-E.
  25. Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor Replacement in Engine Electrical.

  27. Install the oil level sensor wiring harness connection.
  28. Install the three-way catalytic converter pipe to the right exhaust manifold. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  29. Install the A/C compressor. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning.
  30. Lower the vehicle.
  31. Remove J 28467-360 , J 36462-A and J 28467-90A .
  32. Install the engine mount struts to the engine. Refer to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Left Side or to Engine Mount Strut Replacement - Right Side .
  33. Fill the engine with new engine oil. Refer to Engine Oil and Oil Filter Replacement .
  34. Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
