Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  2. Remove the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  3. Remove the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  4. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  5. Remove the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  6. Remove the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  7. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  8. Remove the inflatable restraint instrument panel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Restraints.
  9. Remove the fuse block. Refer to Fuse Block Replacement .
  10. Remove the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  11. Remove the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  12. Remove the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Release Lever Replacement .
  13. Remove the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  14. Remove the front floor console bracket. Refer to Floor Console Bracket Replacement .
  15. Remove the audio system. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  16. Remove the heater A/C controls. Refer to Auxiliary Air Conditioning (A/C) Control Assembly Replacement - Front in HVAC Systems with A/C - Manual.
  17. Remove the switch bank. Refer to Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement - Instrument Panel in Lighting Systems.
  18. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  19. Remove the instrument panel upper trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  20. Remove the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  21. Remove the data link connector. Refer to Data Link Connector Replacement .

  22. Object Number: 318207  Size: LH
  23. Remove the bolts/screws (1) that secure the instrument panel (3) to the body.
  24. Lift up from the bottom of the instrument panel in order to release the IP top retainers.
  25. Remove the wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Replacement .
  26. Remove the instrument panel (3) from the body.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 318207  Size: LH

    Important: The instrument panel will rest off of the lower mounts when you lower the instrument panel. This will aid in the routing of the wiring harness. Prop the instrument panel up in order to route the harness, as needed.

  1. Perform the following steps in order to install the instrument panel (2) to the body:
  2. 1.1. Secure the top retainers.
    1.2. Lower the instrument panel.
  3. Install the wiring harness. Refer to Instrument Panel Wiring Harness Replacement .
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the bolts/screws (1) to the instrument panel body (3).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts/screws to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the data link connector. Refer to Data Link Connector Replacement .
  8. Install the headlamp switch. Refer Headlamp Switch Replacement in Lighting Systems.
  9. Install the instrument panel upper trim. Refer to Instrument Panel Trim Pad Replacement .
  10. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement in Interior Trim.
  11. Install the switch bank. Refer to Multifunction Switch Assembly Replacement - Instrument Panel in Lighting Systems.
  12. Install the heater A/C controls. Refer to Auxiliary Air Conditioning (A/C) Control Assembly Replacement - Front in HVAC Systems with A/C - Manual.
  13. Install the audio system. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  14. Install the front floor console bracket. Refer to Floor Console Bracket Replacement .
  15. Install the front floor console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement .
  16. Install the hood release handle. Refer to Hood Release Lever Replacement .
  17. Install the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column
  18. Install the IP cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement .
  19. Install the fuse block. Refer to Fuse Block Replacement .
  20. Install the inflatable restraint instrument panel module. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Restraints.
  21. Install the IP compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement .
  22. Install the instrument panel accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement .
  23. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement .
  24. Install the left closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Left Side .
  25. Install the right closeout/insulator panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side .
  26. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  27. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
