Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Disconnect the vacuum lines from the defroster vacuum actuator.

  3. Object Number: 295305  Size: SH
  4. Rotate the defrost valve lever fully rearward (counterclockwise), then carefully insert a screwdriver between the bottom of the defrost valve lever and the protruding wall of the HVAC module case below the valve lever in order to keep the valve lever in place.
  5. Leave the screwdriver in this position until actuator is re-installed.

  6. Lift to release the defroster vacuum actuator retaining tab and begin to slide the vacuum actuator towards the passenger side of the vehicle.
  7. Carefully rotate the vacuum actuator upward and forward until the actuator clears the instrument panel support.

  8. Object Number: 295308  Size: SH
  9. Disconnect the vacuum actuator pushrod from the defrost valve lever and remove the vacuum actuator.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the defroster vacuum actuator pushrod to the defrost valve lever

  2. Object Number: 295306  Size: SH
  3. Carefully rotate the vacuum actuator rearward and downward, until the actuator slots align with the HVAC module mounting pins.
  4. Check that the vacuum actuator pushrod is not binding on the defrost valve lever.
  5. Push the vacuum actuator toward the HVAC module case to secure the retaining tab.

  6. Object Number: 295305  Size: SH
  7. Remove the screwdriver maintaining the defrost valve lever in position.
  8. Connect the vacuum lines to the vacuum actuator.
  9. Install the instrument panel lower compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
