Check the vehicle for Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).

Are there any DTC codes?

Go to Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) List in Antilock Brake System

Go to Step 2

  1. Disconnect the Electronic Brake Traction Control Module (EBTCM) connector C1.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Is the LOW TRACTION indicator on?

Go to Step 3

  1. Using a J 39200 DMM, check for a short to ground in circuit 832.
  2. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Connect a fused (3-amp) jumper between the EBTCM harness connector C1 terminal A6 and ground.

Is the LOW TRACTION indicator on?

--

Go to Step 5

A fault exists in the EBTCM or the ABS. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - ABS in Antilock Brake System for diagnosis.

Has the repair been made and the system rechecked?

--

System OK

  1. Check for a poor connection or an open in circuit 832 between the instrument cluster connector C1 terminal F and the EBTCM harness connector C1 terminal A6.
  2. Check the Low Traction Indicator bulb. If OK, replace the instrument cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
