Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 545583  Size: SH
  3. Remove the steering column upper nut.
  4. Remove the center console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

  5. Object Number: 545578  Size: SH
  6. Remove the anchor cable nut from the center console bracket.
  7. Remove the anchor cable.

Installation Procedure

  1. Properly route the steering column anchor cable.

  2. Object Number: 545578  Size: SH
  3. Install the anchor cable to the center console bracket stud.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the anchor cable nut to the center console bracket stud.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the steering column anchor nut to 10 N·m (14 lb ft).

  7. Install the steering column anchor cable end to the steering column stud.

  8. Object Number: 545583  Size: SH
  9. Install the steering column nut. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  10. Install the center console. Refer to Front Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  11. Install the knee bolster. Refer to Knee Bolster Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
