J 39822 Wiper Arm Puller

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 512035  Size: SH
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACCY position.
  2. Set wiper switch to the PULSE position.
  3. Turn off the ignition when the wiper arms are in the innerwipe position and not moving.
  4. Disconnect the washer hose from the washer nozzle.
  5. Remove the wiper arm nut cover.
  6. Remove the wiper arm nut.
  7. Using the J 39822 , remove the wiper arm from the wiper drive system module.
  8. Remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm. Refer to Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the wiper blade onto the wiper arm. Refer to Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement .
  2. Position the wiper arm onto the wiper drive system module.
  3. Important: Hold the measuring device at 90 degrees (perpendicular) to the wiper blade tip.

  4. Measure the distance from the wiper blade tip to the solid edge of the windshield blackout. Position the wiper arms at the following distances:
  5. • LH - 147 mm (5.79 in) above the glass blackout.
    • RH - 123 mm (4.84 in) below the glass blackout.

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the wiper arm nut.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  8. Install the wiper arm nut cover.
  9. Install the washer hose to the washer nozzle.
  10. Inspect the wipers for proper operation.
