DEFINITION: The auxiliary blower motor is ON while the auxiliary mode switch is in the OFF position. This table works with any rear entertainment system.

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Place the rear auxiliary blower motor switch in the maximum speed position.
  3. Place the front auxiliary blower motor switch in the OFF position.

Is the auxiliary blower motor OFF?

Go to Step 3

  1. Place the front auxiliary blower motor switch in the rear control position.
  2. Place the rear auxiliary blower motor switch in the OFF position.

Is the auxiliary blower motor OFF?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Place the rear auxiliary blower motor switch in the OFF position

Does the auxiliary blower motor continue to operate?

Go to Step 5

Important: The front auxiliary blower motor switch must remain in the OFF position during all further diagnostic steps.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the auxiliary blower motor continue to operate?

Go to Step 6

Test the auxiliary blower motor med 1/2 speed control circuit between the auxiliary blower motor resistor assembly and the auxiliary blower motor relay for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the auxiliary blower motor control circuit between the auxiliary blower motor and the auxiliary blower motor relay for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the auxiliary blower motor relay.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Probe the high blower motor control circuit of the auxiliary blower motor relay with a test lamp that is connected to battery positive voltage.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Test the high blower motor control circuit of the auxiliary blower motor relay for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the auxiliary blower motor low speed control circuit and the auxiliary blower motor medium speed control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the auxiliary blower motor control circuit and the auxiliary blower motor medium speed control circuit for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the auxiliary blower motor relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.
