INADVERTENT TRUNK OPENING WHITH REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY

SUBJECT: INADVERTENT TRUNK OPENING WITH REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER (REPLACE TRANSMITTER)

MODELS: 1996-98 BUICK LESABRE, PARK AVENUE, RIVIERA 1996 OLDSMOBILE NINETY EIGHT 1996-98 OLDSMOBILE AURORA, EIGHTY EIGHT, LSS, REGENCY 1996-98 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THE TRUNK MAY INADVERTENTLY OPEN WHILE THE TRANSMITTER IS IN THEIR POCKET OR PURSE.

CORRECTION:

REPLACE THE TRANSMITTER WITH P/N 25678792. THE NEW TRANSMITTER HAS A LONGER DETENT TO ACTUATE THE TRUNK RELEASE SO THAT IT CANNOT BE ACCIDENTALLY PRESSED AND HAVE THE TRUNK OPEN.

IT IS NECESSARY TO PRESS THE TRUNK BUTTON VERY FIRMLY TO ACTIVATE THE TRUNK RELEASE. PRESS THE BUTTON UNTIL YOU FEEL AS THOUGH IT HAS STOPPED AND THEN PRESS HARDER THROUGH THE STOP. INFORM THE CUSTOMER OF THE CHANGE AND DEMONSTRATE THE NEW TRANSMITTER.
