Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 293142  Size: MH
  1. Remove the following components:
  2. • The retainer (6)
    • The shield (8)
  3. Remove the clamps (3) or connections at the gear.
  4. Remove the clamps (3) or connections at the pump.
  5. Remove the hoses (2,4).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 293142  Size: MH
  1. Install the hoses (2,4).
  2. Install the clamps (3) or connections at the gear.
  3. Install the clamps (3) or connections at the pump.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the following components:
  6. • The retainer (6)
    • The shield (8)

    Tighten

        • Tighten the retainer (6) and the shield (8) mounting bolts (7) to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
        • Tighten the power steering gear inlet hose (4) to pump to 27 N·m (20 lb ft).
        • Tighten the hose clamp (3) at the pump to 1.7 N·m (15 lb in).
        • Tighten the power steering gear outlet (2) and the power steering inlet hose (4) to steering gear, to 8 N·m (70 lb in).
  7. Fill the system.
  8. Bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  9. Inspect the system for leaks.
