Battery positive voltage (B+) is applied from fuse 2 in the RH IP fuse block through CKT 1540 (ORN) to the rear compartment lid release relay coil. The coil supplies voltage through CKT 1344 (LT BLU) to the valet switch. Setting the valet switch to the UNLOCK position supplies voltage through CKT 1576 (BLK) to the rear compartment lid release switch. When the gear selector in the PARK position, the rear compartment lid release switch is grounded. This ground path consists of CKT 434 (ORN/BLK), the park/neutral position (PNP) switch and CKT 451 (BLK/WHT) to ground G101. Pressing the rear compartment lid release switch energizes the relay coil. The relay contacts close. Voltage is applied through CKT 1540 (ORN), the closed relay contacts and CKT 56 (BLK/WHT) to the rear compartment lid release actuator. The actuator is grounded at all times via CKT 1350 (BLK) to ground G402. The actuator energizes, releasing the rear compartment lid.

The rear compartment lid release relay can also be energized using the keyless entry transmitter, regardless of the valet switch position. The remote function actuator (RFA) module provides a ground path on CKT 1344 (LT BLU) to the relay coil. The module grounds the relay coil to energize the lid release actuator when the rear compartment lid release button on the transmitter is pressed.
