Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement Buick

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 310017  Size: SH

    Important: The rear compartment lid latch is attached to the rear compartment lid. This latch is adjustable up and down and from side to side in order to provide for the following conditions:

       • Proper rear compartment lid latch operation
       • Proper latch-to-striker engagement
    When the rear compartment lid latch release option is present, the solenoid is bolted to the latch.

  1. Inspect the rear compartment lid for proper alignment to the following components:
  2. • The rear quarters
    • The rear compartment front panel
  3. Remove the rear compartment lid trim, if equipped. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
  4. Remove the bolts retaining the lock cylinder cable to the rear compartment lid (6).
  5. Disconnect the electrical connectors (4) from the latch assembly (5).
  6. Remove the bolts (1) retaining the latch assembly (5) to the rear compartment lid (6).
  7. Remove the latch assembly (5) from the rear compartment lid (6).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the latch assembly (5) to the rear compartment lid (6).
  2. Attach the bolts (1) in order to retain the latch assembly (5) to the rear compartment lid (6).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Adjust the latch assembly (5) as needed.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 10.5 N·m (93 lb in).

  6. Connect the electrical connectors (4) to the latch assembly (5).
  7. Install the bolts in order to retain the lock cylinder cable to the rear compartment lid (6).
  8. Install the rear compartment lid trim, if equipped. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .

Removal Procedure

    Important: The rear compartment lid latch is attached to the rear compartment lid. This latch is adjustable up and down and from side to side in order to provide for the following conditions:

       • Proper rear compartment lid latch operation
       • Proper latch to striker engagement
    When the rear compartment lid latch release option is present, the solenoid is bolted to the latch.

  3. Remove the bolts (3) retaining the lock cylinder cable (5) to the rear compartment lid (8).
  4. Disconnect the electrical connectors (6) from the latch assembly (7).
  5. Remove the bolts (1) retaining the latch assembly (7) to the rear compartment lid (8).
  6. Remove the latch assembly (7) from the rear compartment lid (8).

  1. Install the latch assembly (7) to the rear compartment lid (8).
  2. Attach the bolts (1) in order to retain the latch assembly (7) to the rear compartment lid (8).
