Removal Procedure

The rear compartment lid consists of the following components:

    • An inner panel
    • An outer panel

These panels are hemmed around the perimeter and bonded together with structural adhesive. The rear compartment lid hinges are bolted to the rear shelf panel and to the lid.

  1. Place protective coverings along adjacent body panels.
  2. Remove the rear compartment lid trim, if equipped. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
  3. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the following rear compartment components:
  4. • The lid latch assembly
    • The lamp
  5. Tie a string to the wiring harness. Pull the harness from the rear compartment lid, leaving the string routed through the rear compartment lid and hanging out.
  6. Remove the wiring harness from the rear compartment lid.

  7. Object Number: 310010  Size: SH
  8. Remove the bolts (1) that retain the rear compartment lid to the hinges.
  9. With the aid of a helper, remove the rear compartment lid (2).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear compartment lid (2) to the hinges.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts in order to retain the rear compartment lid to the hinges.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Pull the wiring harness through the rear compartment lid.
  6. Connect the electrical connectors.

  7. Install the rear compartment lid trim, if equipped. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Inner Panel Trim Replacement .
  8. Remove the protective coverings.
