Backprobe the LH seat switch connector with a DMM from cavity H (Oldsmobile), L (Buick), or F (Pontiac) to ground.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the memory seat/mirror module diagnostic connector to ground.
  3. • The connector may be taped up into the body harness.
    • The memory seat/mirror module will beep once in order to acknowledge entrance into the mode 1 diagnostics.
    • Refer to Circuit Operation for a detailed explanation of the memory seat/mirror module diagnostic modes.
  4. Operate the LH seat switch in all directions. (The module will beep once for each switch input received.)
  5. Any time a switch is operated and the module does not beep, the module did not receive an input from that switch.

Were there any switch operations where the memory seat/mirror module beeped?

  1. Disconnect the LH seat switch connector.
  2. Connect a DMM from the LH seat switch connector cavity H (ORN) to ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

Connect a DMM from the LH seat switch connector cavity H (ORN) to cavity G (BLK).

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

Repair the open in CKT 640 (ORN) between S237 and the LH seat switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  2. Connect a DMM from the seat control module connector C1 cavity A (ORN) to ground.

Repair the open in CKT 1250 (BLK) between the seat control module and G202. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Disconnect the console seat switch connector C1.
  2. Connect a DMM from the console seat switch connector C1 cavity E (BLK) to ground.

Is the resistance less than the specified value?

5 ohms

  1. Reconnect the console seat switch connector C1.
  2. Disconnect the seat control module connector C2.
  3. Place the seat select switch to operate the respective seat.
  4. Connect a DMM from the seat control module connector C1 cavity A (ORN) to the following connector C2 cavities:
  5. • Front vertical UP: cavity A (DK GRN)
    • Front vertical DOWN: cavity B (DK BLU)
    • Rear vertical UP: cavity C (YEL)
    • Rear vertical DOWN: cavity D (LT BLU)
    • Seat FORWARD: cavity E (TAN)
    • Seat BACK: cavity F (LT GRN)
    • Recline FORWARD: cavity G (GRY/BLK)
    • Recline BACK: cavity H (DK GRN/WHT)
  6. Press the appropriate seat switches.

Is the voltage within the specified range for each switch pressed?

10-15 V

  1. Reconnect the seat control module connector C1 and connector C2.
  2. Connect a DMM from the seat control module LH connector C3 or RH connector C4 from cavity D to ground.
  3. Briefly press each of the seat switches listed in Power Seats System Check.

Is the voltage within the specified range for any switch pressed?

10-15 V
