  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Backprobe the LH seat switch connector with a DMM from cavity L (Oldsmobile) or E (Buick/Pontiac) to ground.
  3. Move the forward/back switch forward.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

Go to Step 4

Replace the LH seat switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

  1. Backprobe the LH seat switch connector with a DMM from cavity M (Oldsmobile) or D (Buick/Pontiac) to ground.
  2. Move the forward/back switch back.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

  1. Backprobe the LH seat horizontal motor with a DMM from cavity A (TAN) to ground.
  2. Move the forward/back switch forward.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15V

  1. Backprobe the LH seat horizontal motor with a DMM from cavity B (LT GRN) to ground.
  2. Move the forward/back switch back.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

Repair the open in CKT 285 (TAN) between the LH seat switch and the LH seat horizontal motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 284 (LT GRN) between the LH seat switch and the LH seat horizontal motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 286 (TAN) between the RH seat switch and the RH seat horizontal motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

Repair the open in CKT 290 (LT GRN) between the RH seat switch and the RH seat horizontal motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs .

  1. Disconnect the seat control module connector C2.
  2. Briefly connect a fused jumper from the seat control module connector C2 cavity E (TAN) to ground.

Does the seat move forward with the fused jumper connected?

Briefly connect a fused jumper from the seat control module connector C2 cavity F (LT GRN) to ground.

Does the seat move back with the fused jumper connected?

  1. Reconnect the seat control module connector C2.
  2. Disconnect the seat control module LH connector C3 or RH connector C4.
  3. Connect a DMM from the seat control module LH connector C3 or the RH connector C4 cavity C (LT GRN) to ground.
  4. Press the seat-forward button.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Replace the seat control module.

Inspect for an open in the LH CKT 284 (LT GRN) or the RH CKT 290 (LT GRN) between the seat control module and the seat horizontal motor. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 284 or CKT 290 OK?

Go to Step 7

Inspect for an open in the LH CKT 1246 (DK GRN) or the RH CKT 1247 (DK GRN) between the seat horizontal motor and S363. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 1246 or CKT 1247 OK?

Replace the seat horizontal motor. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement .

Inspect for an open in CKT 1522 (TAN) between the seat control module and the console seat switch. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 1522 OK?

Inspect for an open in CKT 1523 (LT GRN) between the seat control module and the console seat switch. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 1523 OK?
