Removal Procedure
  1. Lower the glass 3 cm (1 in).
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  3. Remove the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the hanger plate fasteners (if equipped).
  5. Remove the hanger plates (if equipped).
  6. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  7. Tape the glass to the header.
  8. Remove the glass sash fasteners.
  9. Remove the outside door handle and lock rod in order to gain better access.
  10. Remove the electrical connectors from the lock.
  11. Remove the trim bracket  (if equipped).

    12. Caution: This vehicle has energy-absorbing foam blocks for side impact protection. To help avoid personal injury in a collision, foam blocks that are damaged, or removed during repairs must be replaced. Failure to replace foam blocks that are removed can violate federal law.

  12. Cut the push pins (4) securing the energy-absorbing foam block to the inner door panel.

  13. Remove the energy-absorbing foam block.
  14. Remove the rear door module fasteners.
  15. Remove the rear door module.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 323097 Size: SH
  1. Install the rear door module (1) through the access hole.
  2. Install the rear door module fasteners.
  3. Tighten the fasteners finger tight, in order to hold the module in place.
  4. Install the upper trim bracket (if equipped).

    5. Caution: This vehicle has energy-absorbing foam blocks for side impact protection. To help avoid personal injury in a collision, foam blocks that are damaged, or removed during repairs must be replaced. Failure to replace foam blocks that are removed can violate federal law.

  5. Install the energy-absorbing foam block (1).

    6. Object Number: 500995 Size: SH
  6. Install new push pin retainers (4) in order to secure the energy-absorbing foam block to the lower inner door panel.

    7. Important: If the lock rod retainer clips were damaged upon lock rod removal, install new retainer clips.

  7. Install the lock rods to the lock assembly.
  8. Connect the electrical connectors.
  9. Tighten the fasteners.
  10. Install the outside door handle and lock rod.
  11. Install the glass sash fasteners.
  12. Remove the tape from the door glass and header.
  13. Adjust the window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Adjustment .
  14. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  15. Install the rear door hanger plates.
  16. Install the hanger plate fasteners.
  17. Install the trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  18. Connect the negative battery cable.
