Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the trim panel. Refer to the following procedures:
  3. •  Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
  4. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the door handle rivets.
  6. 4.1. Center punch a depression in the head of the rivet.
    4.2. Drill out the rivet with a 4 mm (3/16 in) drill bit.
  7. Remove the inside remote handle.
  8. Slide the handle rearward in order to disengage the tabs on the handle from the slots in the door.

  9. Remove the handle to the lock rod and the short lock rod from the bellcrank (if equipped).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the handle to the lock rod and the short lock rod (if equipped).

  2. Object Number: 323089  Size: SH
  3. Install the inside remote handle.
  4. Place the tabs on the handle into the slots in the door and slide the handle forward.

  5. Secure the rivets.
  6. Use 4 mm (3/16 in) peel type rivets.

  7. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement or Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  8. Install the trim panel. Refer to the following procedures:
  9. •  Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
  10. Connect the negative battery cable.
