The automatic day-night mirror has an AUTOCAL compass. The mirror automatically calibrates in order to prevent the vehicle's unique magnetic fields from causing the mirror to display the wrong compass direction. This calibration happens during normal driving conditions. When the compass is calibrating, a C is displayed. The calibration is complete when the C in the display changes to the correct directional heading. Once calibrated, the mirror does not need to be recalibrated. The calibration is not lost when the mirror or the ignition switch is turned to the OFF position.
