Backprobe the stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C2 with a test lamp from cavity A (ORN) to ground.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C2.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the stoplamp/BTSI switch connector C2 cavity A (ORN) to cavity B (WHT).

Do all of the stoplamps light?

--

Replace the stoplamp/BTSI switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement in Hydraulic Brakes.

Is the repair complete?

Inspect for an open in CKT 17 (WHT) between the stoplamp/BTSI switch and S228. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 17 OK?

--

Go to Step 6

Replace the turn/hazard switch. Refer to Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Disassemble - Off Vehicle and Turn Signal and Multifunction Switch Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column - Tilt.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open in CKT 140 (ORN) between the IP fuse block and the stoplamp/BTSI switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 17 (WHT) between the stoplamp/BTSI switch and S228. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 20 (LT BLU) between the stoplamp/BTSI switch and S231. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the lamp monitor control module connector C1 and connector  C2.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from the lamp monitor control module connector C2 cavity K (LT BLU) and connector C1 cavity F (ORN)

Do all of the stop lamps light, except the high mounted stop lamp?

Replace the lamp monitor control module. Refer to Instrument Panel Lamp Dimmer Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Inspect for an open in CKT 20 (LT BLU) between the stoplamp/BTSI switch and S231. Refer to Testing for Continuity in Wiring Systems.

Is CKT 20 OK?

Repair the open in CKT 1054 (ORN) between the lamp monitor control module and S425. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Repair the open or the short to ground in the CKT 140 (ORN) wiring. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
